Platinum Games has announced that the action RPG game NieR: Automata will be getting a PlayStation 4 demo on December 22nd 2016.
In the demo version of the game players will be able to explore part of an abandoned factory as they play as android 2B. In the demo players will have to destroy "a massive enemy weapon" that lies within.
NieR: Automata is set in the same universe as Nier and is a spin-off of the Drakengard series. Set in the midst of a proxy war between machines created by otherworldly invaders and the remnants of humanity, the story follows the battles of combat android 2B, her companion 9S, and the obsolete prototype A2.
Players will control multiple characters through action-based gameplay, with new playable characters unlockable with each playthrough and story route.
While stated to be a high-action game, the developers have said that it will likely retain the role-playing elements of the original Nier.
Earlier this week the game developer also released the dates for the release of the game in North America, Europe and Australia.
The PlayStation 4 version of NieR: Automata will launch on February 23rd 2017 in Japan, March 7th 2017 in North America and March 10th in Europe and Australia. A PC release date has not yet been given.
