Ubisoft has released the first in-engine gameplay footage of Beyond Good and Evil 2. The game was announced last week when the company revealed the game with a cinematic reveal trailer.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is the spiritual successor to 2003 classic Beyond Good and Evil. The prequel will transport players into a "profoundly multicultural world", capturing the spirit of the original with "grandiose decors" and "intense dramas" that play out across a vast universe.
The new gameplay video shows the first in-engine gameplay footage as one of the game's developers discusses the technology that allows them to create planets that rotate around the sun for a true day and night cycle, as well as the ability to seamlessly travel from planet to planet with your space ship.
In the game players will journey to System 3, the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way of the 24th century, thanks to the creation of Hybrid slaves.
While private enterprises fight over resources and power, the first colonists weave together the rich and diverse spiritual and cultural heritages of Old Earth to give meaning to their existence.
In this new era of piracy, players will rise from lowly pirate to legendary captain at the helm of massive star-faring vessels, adventuring alongside crews of characters to fight for freedom.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is expected to launch in the fall of 2018 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4.
