Bandai Namco has announced a new winter survival game called Impact Winter through an announcement trailer. The game enjoyed a successful Steam Greenlight campaign a year ago.

Impact Winter is a post-apocalyptic survival adventure game that features awe-inspiring snow-covered environments. In the game players play as Jacob Solomon, leader of a team of 4 survivors, with the assistance of a flying robot called Ako-Light.

The world of Impact Winter has no barriers and as such is a non-linear sandbox for players to explore however they choose.

In the game players can dig for buried secrets, hunt wildlife at night, take shelter from fierce storms, investigate mysterious signals, set up camp during long expeditions, command your team back at the Church, trade with wandering nomads, upgrade your base - and much more.

For the game's storyline the developers of the game are using what they call Story Events - A dynamic system that replaces the traditional mission structure found in other games.

Story Events can be completely random to scripted scenarios that are tied to certain conditions, such as storms damaging the Church, frostbite from over-exposure to the cold, getting lost in a 'Whiteout', and depressed team members going AWOL.

Each team member will be a crucial asset by way of their unique skills. Crafting upgrades for the Church, repairing damage, creating food recipes, upgrading Ako-Light's features, healing sick teammates, arming traps and upgrading weapons are just some of the unique skills.

Impact Winter is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2017 exclusively for PC.
