Tripwire Interactive has released a new update for the shooter game Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. The update adds three new map variants to the game.
The three new map variants are SU-HueCity, TE-AnLaoValley and TE-SongBe. These map variants not only bring the existing maps to the other game mode, they offer new gameplay experiences and new lighting/time of day.
All three maps are currently in a beta state, meaning that it still contains several bugs that are on the development studio's known issues list.
The upcoming 1.02 update will also includes several bugfixes and quality of life changes, such as vehicle-specific keybinding and a toggle sprint option.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is the direct sequel to the original shooter game Rising Storm that released in 2013. The original game was a standalone expansion pack for the popular shooter game Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.
The major selling point of the sequel is the game's setting. Set in Vietnam, players get to experience fierce combat in lush Vietnamese jungles, cities and the country side, and maps are based on iconic locations such as Cu Chi, Hue City, Song Be, An Lao Valley and Hill 937.
In our review of the game we gave it a 7 out of 10 score, noting that, while the game is a worthy successor to the original Rising Storm, too that many gameplay elements feel identical to the original title.
