Microsoft has announced that it will cease production of the Xbox 360, citing manufacturing issues as the primary reason for its decision. "Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles." the statement reads.

The experience of existing Xbox 360 users be negatively impacted because of this decision. "Our Xbox 360 fans can continue to play their favorite games with the full support of Xbox Live." microsoft assured players in the announcement.

The Xbox 360 was first revealed on May 12th 2005 and was released in America on November 16th 2005. As of May 2014 Microsoft has sold over 81 million units.
