In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything thread Valve CEO and founder Gabe Newell has confirmed that the company is currently working on a new singleplayer game.

In the thread users on Reddit were able to submit questions for Newell to answer. On the question of whether the company is still working on a new singleplayer game Newell simply answered "Yes" without going into further details.

In the same post the user also asks what the status of Half-Life 3 or Half-Life 2 Episode 3 is, on which Newell commented that "The number 3 must not be said."

According to the one of the responses from Newell, he frequently gets recognized in public and people often ask him to comment on Half-Life 3's status.

Newell did not comment on whether the Left 4 Dead franchise will see a new title any time soon, but did note that the franchise is "a good place for creating shared narratives."

On the question of whether there is a chance for a new game set in the Half-Life or Portal universe Newell, again, replied with a simple "Yes" and also stated that the movies set in the Half-Life and Portal universe by Valve and J.J. Abrams are still coming.

Half-Life 2 first released on November 16, 2004, for PC.
