Mirror's Edge Catalyst, the second game in the franchise, has been delayed. The developer, EA Dice, cites additional polishment as the main reason for the delay. The game is said to be utilizing a new technology called Social Play, a social platform allowing players to find eachother more easily ingame. Social play will also feature a Companion App and website, that allows players to customize their social profile and browse through leaderboards.

"To support the Social Play features, we are using a brand new online technology. We also want to make sure we have the opportunity and time to address player feedback from the Closed Beta. That is why we will give ourselves a bit more time to perfect the game, with a new release date for Mirror’s Edge [..]" the statement reads.

Recent PC system specifications for Mirror's Edge Catalyst revealed that the developer recommends 16GB of RAM to be able to play the game properly. Whether performance issues are possibly the cause of the delay is unclear.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is now scheduled to launch June 7th in America and June 9th in Europe.
