Hello Games founder Sean Murray has confirmed that No Man's Sky will get free content updates via patches. The game will not be getting paid downloadable content.

Murray made the statement in an interview with Red Bull earlier this week, stating that the development studio wants to "add a ton of features [..]: Freighters, bases, these type of things." Murray went on to state that the development studio wants to introduce the new content for free.

"You've paid for the game, so you should get this stuff without paying even more money. So no, there will be no paid DLC, just patches." Murray confirmed.

With the PC version of No Man's Sky getting mixed reviews, gamers are still eagerly awaiting a patch that allows them to run the game flawlessly on high-end hardware. That patch may not arrive until early next week, Hello Games has confirmed.
