The game is said to feature a deep story-driven singleplayer campaign in which players must rescue  as many civilians as possible whilst taking down brutal opponents, and a multiplayer battle mode where players can compete against each other as they compelete various objectives.

In terms of combat, players will have access to several combat maneuvers to effectively traverse giant beasts to expose their weak points, and a progression system that can be used to upgrade skills as players progress through the game.

The game is also said to feature an "interactive" environment that is fully destructible and players will be able to use objects scattered throughout the world to their advantage.

Extinction is expected to launch next year for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Actual gameplay footage is expected to be released next week.
