The indie developer behind the popular virtual reality tactical multiplayer shooter Onward, Dante Buckley, has announced that he will be teaming up with Valve.

Since the release of the game in August this year it has seen increased popularity. The game features several different game modes and maps that make for an interesting shooter experience not seen in the virtual reality gaming industry before.

In the game players fight against eachother in two teams, both of them consisting of real players wearing a virtual reality headset.

In the announcement Buckley states that he will continue to work on the development of Onward from Valve's headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, starting January 2017, but did not comment on what the future holds for the game.

Buckley also did not comment on whether he will assist Valve in the development of other virtual reality titles.

The Onward community reacted positively to the recent announcement, with fans expecting that Valve will either acquire the franchise or make a sequel to the game featuring Valve's upcoming Source2 game engine.
