Mirosoft's Xbox One console may have outsold Sony's PlayStation 4 console in the US in December 2017, according to an unpublished report by market researching firm NPD Group.
Microsoft's Head of Xbox Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg cited the unpublished sales figures on Twitter earlier today.
According to the tweet, the upcoming NPD Group report will show that Microsoft's Xbox One outsold Sony's PlayStation 4 in December of last year.
The unpublished figures are interesting because many gamers jumped to the conclusion that Sony's PlayStation 4 was overshadowing Microsoft's Xbox One after Sony released a press release listing its internal holiday sales figures last week.
Whether Sony's internal sales figures will match up with the figures included in the report remains to be seen. The unpublished sales figures Greenberg refers to are related to US markets only.
Greenberg further states that the report will show that Nintendo sold the most overall units with its Nintendo Switch console.
