EA Games has started the closed beta test for Battlefield V. The studio has only invited so-called "influencers" and an unknown number of randomly selected players to participate.

In Battlefield V players will "lead their squad to victory" with new ways to turn the battlefield to their advantage, such as building fortifications, repair war-torn structures, or tow stationary weapons.

They will also be able to customize their company of soldiers, weapons, and vehicles in both online and co-op multiplayer modes.

Why EA Games almost entirely focuses on influencers has to do with the company's marketing plan: it sees influencers with many followers or subscribers as a cheap and easy way to market the game.

Battlefield V will release on October 19, 2018, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
