Nintendo has announced that it will stop the production of the Wii U console soon. The announcement comes a week after the company debunked previous claims that it wouldn't stop production.

The company's has recently updated its hardware lineup page to display that the production of its Wii U console "is coming to an end soon (in Japan)".
The new information comes just just 8 days after the company debunked previous rumours that indicated that the company was planning to stop production.

Nintendo has not commented on why it is planning to stop the production of the console, but it is likely that it is related to the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch in March 2017.
