ArenaNet has released the first details of a new Guild Wars 2 update that will change the way World versus World skirmishing and rewards function.

The new update that is scheduled to go live next Tuesday will introduce changes that many players have been requesting for months. The most notable changes include a reworked rewards system that will give players additional rewards based on skirmish results, WvW rank and outnumbered buffs.

The new rewards system will also provide additional rewards to players who command a squad of at least five players, further incentivising commanders to tag up more often.

The new system also discourages server bandwagoning, the process in which many players relocate to the winning server for rewards, as players will only receive rewards if they have played on the same server for at least three weeks.

The new update also adds a new user interface through which ArenaNet hopes to more clearly display matchup information. The new user interface includes the typical matchup data, a new matchup history tab and a new reward pips panel.

In terms of rewards, players will be able to acquire several different tiers of rewards in the form of armor, weapons and a new World versus World exclusive legendary backpack skin called Warbringer.

When the update launches next Tuesday, WvW players at rank 50 will be able to purchase the first tier of the new backpack using Skirmish Claim Tickets, and those who unlock the new backpack will also acquire a glider skin to go along with it.

Last but not least are changes to the Looking For Group system. The system is being tweaked specifically for the game mode because the tool isn't being used at all in its current form. ArenaNet hopes to change this by making it more prominently visible.

When players enter the game mode, the squad user interface will display three squads and three parties for players to join that are listed in the World vs. World Squad Play or Party Play categories.

The new World versus World update launches on Tuesday, June 6th 2017, as part of a larger game update.
