ArenaNet has launched the second preview weekend event for the upcoming Guild Wars 2 expansion pack Path of Fire. In the preview weekend players get to experience the new elite specializations in competitive game modes.
In the second preview weekend players are able to experience the new elite specializations in the game's competitive World versus World and Player versus Player game modes.
Testing the new elite specializations in the competitive game modes allows players to see how the new skills and traits fit into existing gameplay. This is particularely important in competitive game modes because they can greatly affect how the game modes are played in the near future.
There will be nine new elite specializations for all of the existing classes for players to try out during the preview weekend event.
In Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire players will travel to Elona and The Crystal Desert where they will experience the continuation of the story that was set out in the game's third Living World Season. The last episode of the season was released last month.
The biggest new feature introduced in the second expansion pack is mounts. When riding on mounts players will have access to a range of new skills and abilities that aid them in travel and combat.
Mounts will not be limited to the new expansion areas but will instead be available in all existing areas, including those from the standard game.
In total players will get to explore five large new maps as they advance through the expansion pack's story chapters.
The first preview event took place last weekend and allowed players to experience the first map of the new expansion pack, Crystal Oasis, as well as one of the new mounts, the Raptor.
The Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire expansion pack launches on September 22, 2017, exclusively for PC and Mac.
