Nintendo has announced it will be releasing a new model of the original Nintendo Switch console in September. The new model will look identical but will contain an improved battery.

On the company's website it has listed that the new model will carry the HAC-001-01 model number which features a new improved battery that delivers between 4.5 to 9 hours of gameplay on a single charge as opposed to 2.5 to 6.5 hours on the original.

The Nintendo Switch Lite that was announced earlier this month will feature a battery capable of delivering between 3 to 7 hours of gameplay.

The official release date for the newer Nintendo Switch model has not been announced yet, but it is expected to release in September along with the Nintendo Switch Lite.
