THQ Nordic has acquired the rights to the Timesplitters and Second Sight franchises, the publisher confirmed earlier this week.

The Timesplitters franchise has seen three entries that were released between 2000 and 2005. These titles are often compared to the popular Rare games GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark because the development studio was founded by former Rare employees.

All three games feature a time travelling mechanic that allows players to battle in a temporal war in a diverse number of locations set over the span of several centuries.

Rights to both franchises were in the hands of its original development studio Free Radical Design which later became Deep Silver Dambuster. The development studio was already part of THQ Nordic.
