EA Dice has released the Spring Update for Battlefield 1. The update adds Platoons, new weapons and new server features to the game.
The new update is the last seasonal update for the game. The game developer will be shifting away from the current seasonal updates model in favor of monthly updates.
With the new monthly update model the developer wants to give players new content and updates at a faster pace by implementing the best ideas that come from the game's test environment.
The Spring Update contains several features, such as the introduction of Platoons, new weapons, new server management features and several other tweaks.
The new Platoons feature allows players to create a Platoon that players can join. A Platoon can be created to form a clan of up to hundred players and can be managed by a clan leader and its officers.
When creating a Platoon, the player will be able to pick a clan icon, name and tag to represent their team. The Platoon's management can also select from several access restriction settings.
Once players from a Platoon team up to form a squad, their Platoon icon will be visible on captured objectives in the game's Conquest game mode.
Other noteworthy features from the Spring Update include Medic Revive Intent, which signals a wounded player that a medic is on their way to heal them, and minor changes to the game's rentable servers that allow owners to set a password to restrict access.
The update also adds several new weapons to the game, including the Hellriegel 1915 Defensive, Selbstlader 1906 Sniper, Huoat Automatic Optical and the Martini-Henry Sniper. The new weapons are unlockable per class for players of level 10 or higher.
The Spring Update is now available for all versions of the game. A full list of changes is available on the game's official website.
