Sony has announced it will not be hosting a press conference during the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2019. It is the first time that the company will not be organizing an event during the trade show.

Both Sony and the expo organizer ESA have confirmed that the company will not be hosting its annual E3 press conference in 2019. The company states it is looking for other ways to communicate with its community.

Both Microsoft and Nintendo will still be part of the expo next year, however Nintendo has already switched to broadcasting a pre-recorded livestream several years ago. It is expected that Sony will do the same or host its own event sometime after the expo.

During the first edition of E3 in 1995 Sony announced the price and release date of its original PlayStation console. Next year marks the 25th edition of the expo, and perhaps more importantly, the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation brand.
