Nintendo has announced that it will be releasing the Nintendo Switch dock separately starting May 19th 2017. The dock is used to connect the console to a monitor or TV.

The separate release of the console dock is not surprising because it has been requested by Nintendo Switch users since the console released last March. By purchasing a second dock players will be able to connect their handheld console to a second monitor without having to reposition and reconnect the original dock.

The Nintendo Switch dock, which is mostly composed of plastic materials, will retail separately for a price of $59.99 in North America and €59.99 in Europe. Nintendo did not comment on why the dock is getting such a steep price tag.

The console dock will not be coming with the required AC adapter, forcing users who need that accessory to purchase it separately as well. The AC adapter will retail for $29.99 in North America and €29.99 in Europe.
