Indie game development studio Strange Matter has released a playable demo of the recently announced tactical RPG game Rise of the Elders: Cthulhu.
The demo version of the game was released to promote the game's ongoing Kickstarter campaign that launched earlier this month. At the time of writing the Kickstarter campaign has over 700 backers with roughly €21,000 pledged.
According to its developers, Rise of the Elders: Cthulhu is a mix between XCOM: EU, Eldritch Horror and The Call of Cthulhu. Strange Matter hopes to design a game that has the accessibility of a video game, the tactical challenge of a board game and the flavor of a good old-fashioned tabletop RPG.
In the playable demo players can play three encounters with the same group of Investigators. The three encounters included are Bridge, which is an escape scenario, Misty Clearing, which is a search scenario, and Souk Market, which is a Close Portal scenario.
The demo version of the game is downloadable on the game's official website and its Kickstarter campaign will run until March 2nd 2017.
Rise of the Elders: Cthulhu is expected to launch on PC and mobile devices later this year.
