EA Games has announced the next Need for Speed racing game. The new game will be titled Need for Speed Payback and will be releasing in November.
According to a recent press release, the game will "challenge what players expect from racing games", though the development studio doesn't state how it plans to do that.
The game is said to include the "deepest" customization and a large roster of cars, races and open world pursuits. The game will feature a singleplayer campaign and players will be able to drive as different characters as they complete missions and objectives.
Need for Speed Payback is set in the fictitious world of Fortune Valley, where players will drive as three distinct characters reunited by a quest for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city’s casinos, criminals and cops. They will take on a variety of challenges and events as Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman to earn the respect of the underground.
On the customization front, players are said to be able to personalize their ride by finding and tuning abandoned vehicles to turn them into "supercars". Players are also said to be able to place bets on their performance, where they can either multiply their winnings or risk losing it all.
Even though other gameplay features haven't been revealed yet, the studio has already announced pre-order bonus content, which includes a car pack and access to five customized cars.
Need for Speed Payback launches on November 10th 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Comments
This comment has been removed. It looks good, but only until they release gameplay video showing how arcade it is. Also very well done on the Nissan R34 GTR cover, that itself guaranteed them 30% more sales.
This comment has been removed. Most screenshots seem to be edited and the trailer is a mix of ingame footage and postprocessing effects so I would hold off on buying.
This comment has been removed. This looks a lot like a Fast n' Furious inspired game rather than what people would expect from a traditional Need for Speed. Not sure if that's good or bad, guess we'll have to wait for first gameplay next week.
