Bethesda Softworks has annouced that mod support for the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will not be coming any time soon. The development studio blames Sony for blocking the way mods work.

In a recent statement the development studio blames Sony for not allowing mod support to go live because of the way the mod system works. Bethesda has confirmed that it will no longer put effort into getting mods on the PlayStation 4.

Bethesda claims that it has spent months negotiating with Sony to get their mod system approved. The development studio already has a title update ready to introduce mod support to the PlayStation 4 versions of the two games but says that Sony did not want approve it.

Bethesda announced mod support for the console versions of the two games earlier this year. In May mod support officially came to the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 when the game received the title update.

While the PC version of the game already supported mods when the game launched last November, Bethesda didn't officially support them until it launched an update for the PC version of Fallout 4 in April.
