The upcoming cross-platform party system for Rocket League will be released next week, development studio Psyonix has confirmed. The system has been delayed several times.
The new update will bring a new Friends List option to the main menu of the game. In this menu players will be able to manage their friends and invite them to their party regardless of the platform they are playing on.
Cross-platform parties via the new Friends List system was delayed in October. A specific reason for pushing the update to 2019 wasn't given, but it was likely related to getting permission from Sony to support cross-platform multiplayer on its PlayStation 4 console.
On January 14, 2019, the studio announced that the PlayStation 4 version of the game now also supports cross-platform multiplayer matchmaking. However, players will have to wait until next week before they can make parties with players from other platforms.
The Rocket League Friends Update releases on February 19, 2019, for all platforms.
