The remastered edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, may become available separately this summer. That can be deduced from store listings on several webshops.
The game is the remastered edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that was released in 2007. The original title is still considered one of the best Call of Duty games of the franchise.
After the release of the game in 2007 many more titles followed, nine to be exact, that were all of lesser quality. Fans of the franchise consider recent Call of Duty games to be milking the succes of the original Modern Warfare title, claiming that newer titles bring no innovation or gameplay changes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was released alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare last year when it released in November. Only those who had purchased the $109.99 Deluxe Edition were able to play the game.
The remastered edition of the game enjoyed far less popularity than the original title, in part because it didn't feature all of the original maps when it first released, but also because the game features a microtransaction model that puts skins and powerful weapons behind a paywall.
According to the store listings, the game will be available separately starting June 20th 2017 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A trial version will also be available. Whether the game will also be available separately on the PC is still unknown.
