Indie development studio Pixeljam Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dino Run 2. The game will be the direct sequel to the original Dino Run that was released in 2008.
The game's Kickstarter campaign is said to be just a part of the studio's ongoing endeavour to find funding for the development of the sequel.
If successfully funded, Dino Run 2 will feature dynamically generated 2D platformer terrains themed on different eras, the original wall of doom, skill boosts, hidden super eggs used to upgrade stats, bones to unlock new areas and perks and multiplayer functionality.
In addition, the game will feature at least 8 playable dino character types, all featuring varying skills and abilities, and a modern physics engine to improve gameplay mechanics.
Aside from the franchise's wall of doom, the sequel will also feature several different types of doom, including avalanches, lava flows and floods.
On Kickstarter the studio hopes to collect at least $20,000 US in funding that will be combined with the results of campaigns on other platforms.
The entire funding campaign is much larger and more ambitious as the studio hopes to collect $40,000 US to start the game's "exploratory" development phase.
