The Steam client and related services are currently experiencing connectivity issues following a server outage. The issues affect millions of players worldwide.
Steam users started to experience issues at around 3 PM GMT on Friday December 23rd 2016. At the time of writing the service has been down for almost 45 minutes.
The server outage not only took down the Steam client that players use to launch games, it also took down the service's online website and online store, preventing players from purchasing items during Steam's Winter Sale.
While Steam has seen more server outages this year, this server outages seems to take longer than usual. Previous server outages have only lasted a short while.
Valve has not yet commented on the reason for the server outage, but an insider source did confirm that it the company is currently working on resolving the issues.
It is unknown when the company expects services to be available again.
