The popular Battle Royale shooter game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be getting a new Event Mode soon. It will follow the same trend as its prime competitor Fortnite.

The new Event Mode will feature periodically changing preset custom games where its development studio Bluehole will try new things and experiment with different game parameters.

With the new mode the studio hopes to offer something that isn't available in the game's public matches. Event Mode is said to feature not only new game parameters, but also new content that will only be available for a limited time.

The first iteration of Event Mode will feature 8 player squad matches where the rifle drop rate has been doubled. This edition will only be available on the original Erangel map and only for those who play in third person.

The new Event Mode is now available on the game's test servers. It is expected to launch on the game's live servers next week.
