The Pokémon Company has announced that it has banned nearly 6,000 players from the online functionality included in Pokémon Sun & Moon.
In a recent press release the company announced that it has banned 5,954 players who tampered with savegame data to increase their rank or obtain special Pokémon.
The new Pokémon game launched last November exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS console and features online battle functionality as well as leaderboard functionality.
Those who are affected by the ban wave will no longer be able to enter Rating Battles, Battle Competitions or participate in Global Missions as they will receive the error code 090-0212.
The company further notes that it will continue to ban players who tamper with savegame data to keep the game's online experience safe from cheaters.
