It was only last week that id Software released DOOM, the reboot of the franchise, for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Now, the company has put up new vacancies on its job listings website that indicate the company may work on a Quake reboot. The vacancies were posted on the official Zenimax Media website, the website of id Software's parent company.

The new listings indicate 12 vacant positions advertised at id Software in Dallas, Texas, that include positions such as Lead Gameplay Programmer and Anti-cheat / Security Programmer and 5 positions in Frankfurt, Germany, that including positions such as Senior Engine Programmer and Senior Physics Programmer. The vacancies describe that "id Software is looking for a Lead Programmer to work as part of a development team on legendary id game properties like DOOM and QUAKE, developing custom tools and technology for the game industry's most advanced engine technology."

Quake first released back in 1996 and a year later the company released Quake II. The release of Quake III in 1999 caused a big popularity spike mainly due to the game's online multiplayer capabilities. Quake 4, released in 2005, and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, released in 2007, were both games that were developed by external development studios and as such were not as well received.
