The reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be getting reload during aiming down sight. The gameplay mechanic was announced earlier this week.

According to a recent announcement, development studio Infinity Ward wanted to "rethink the reload" by improving animations and by not taking players out of the traditional aim down sights camera angle.

The studio notes that "this time if you reload, it stays on the target, so you can stay in the battle," indicating that all weapons in the game will have this gameplay mechanic. It is the first time a Call of Duty game doesn't force players take their crosshair off a target during weapon reloads.

In previous games aim down sight camera angles would be interrupted to reload weapons. The studio did not comment on why it thought it was necessary to break from that tradition other than "rethinking" how it worked.

The announcement also touches on several other animation improvements, such as new idle stance movement, reload animations based on remaining ammunition, and animations based on ammunition caliber impact.

The game will be the 28th entry in the Call of Duty franchise, including all its spin-off games, and the 16th entry in the main series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on October 25, 2019, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
