The upcoming Progression Update for Rocket League will be released on August 29, 2018, development studio Psyonix announced earlier today.

The new progression system will give players a new way to unlock free content. The current random drop system will be replaced with a new system that awards a random item of "Uncommon" quality.

In addition, the random drop after each match will be different. With the new system, players will unlock all "Common" items for a particular slot as soon as they reach a certain number of matches played. For example, players will unlock every "Common" topper after 15 matches played.

The new system will also introduce various XP bonuses that help players level up faster. These bonuses will be linked to various actions, such as completing a match without quitting, staying in the same lobby multiple matches, joining in-progress matches, and winning a certain number of matches per week.

The update also brings a host of other changes such as avatar border customization, particle details graphics option, new achievements and trophies, and a new in-game social feature called Clubs.

The new Clubs feature lets players organize and compete as a team within Rocket League. They will be able to name their Club, create a custom Club Tag and have up to 20 players unified as one.
