Rare has released a new developer diary video for the upcoming pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves. The video features a look at a prototype of the game.

Sea of Thieves features extensive multiplayer co-op capabilities. In the game players must work together to control a pirate ship. Players will face enemies and battle enemy ships by using their ship's cannons.

Players can also set foot on land to complete quests or to explore the game's vast environments.

The early prototype version of the game was playtested to get a sense of what players would do in the game's environment. This allowed the game's developers to turn interesting experiences into full-fledged quests and objectives.

Last month the studio also released a new 4K gameplay video that shows the studio's progress since the game was announced in 2015.

Sea of Thieves launches in early 2018 for PC and Xbox One.
