The organisation behind the upcoming gaming event Gamescom has announced that it will ramp up security measures following recent terrorist attacks.
In the new safety measures and stricter costume regulations the organisation advises event visitors to leave unnecessary bags and rucksacks at home. Cosplayers who wish to attend the event are still able to participate, but are advised to not bring any imitation weapons.
All imitation weapon, including elements of costumes, regardless of the material and size, will be confiscated before cosplayers are admitted to the grounds.
The new measures include bag checks that will be carried out at the entrances before entering the fair grounds. The safety checks will take on variable forms, which will depend on the respective short term consultations with the safety authorities.
The organisation expects longer queuing times as control measures are carried out. The measures are expected start daily at 07:00 AM.
Gamescom 2016 takes place from August 17th to August 21st 2016 in Cologne, Germany.
