The indie strategy game Abandon Ship has received a new major update titled "The Haunted Seas". The update adds new Halloween-themed content to the game.

The new update adds the new Haunted Seas region to the game, which is accessible after you have defeated the Kraken.

The region is the setting for then new Haunted Seas Escape side story in which players play as a Captain with a tragic past. A routine job goes awry when they are lured into The Haunted Seas and must attempt to escape whilst uncovering the truth.

The new region features brand-new threats, such as Ghost Ships utilizing the new Ghost Mortar weapon. The mortar fires a blood splat onto the deck of your ship, and a handful of zombies emerge from it, ready to attack your crew.

In Abandon Ship players take control of a ship and its crew as they explore a procedurally generated world, take on quests and deal with random, and sometimes life-threatening, events.

Abandon Ship made its way to Steam Early Access earlier this year. It is expected to remain in this development phase until 2019 while its developers continue to add more content and features.
