Epic Games has confirmed it is no longer actively developing the next Unreal Tournament game. The game has been in development since 2014.

The studio confirmed it has stopped the development of its new Unreal Tournament game in an interview with Variety. In the interview founder Tim Sweeney stated that the current development build will remain available in the store but "isn't actively developed" anymore.

Back in January of this year we already reported on the studio shelving the game, but the studio declined to comment on the matter despite several requests for comments.

The game has been in development since 2014 but is still in its pre-alpha stage four years later. The last update was released in June 2017.

Unreal Tournament isn't the first title that was canceled, in January 2018 the studio also announced it had shut down its MOBA Paragon.

The development studio now solely focuses on the development of Fortnite.
