The jury panel of The Game Awards 2016, the awards show that look place in Los Angeles earlier today, has chosen Overwatch for the show's Game of The Year award.
Our of several nominees, including Titanfall 2, Inside, Doom and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the multiplayer shooter from Blizzard Entertainment was selected for the show's Game of The Year award by its jury.
Aside from the Game of The Year award the title also won the Best Multiplayer Game 2016 and Best Game Direction awards.
On social media gamers received the news with mixed reactions, with some stating that the PlayStation 4 exclusive title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End should have been won the award instead.
In Overwatch players battle it out against each other in several colorful arena shooter maps. Players have the ability to select from 23 unique characters, each with their own set of unqiue abilities.
The Game Awards is just one of the many gaming awards shows that take place annually.
Overwatch launched on May 24th 2016 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
