Valve has released a new version of its Steam beta client earlier this week. The new version features a new chat user interface and new functionalities.
The Steam beta client is available publicly by opting in for the beta branch via the Steam settings window. Those who opt in will see a new user interface that is said to make it easier to communicate with friends.
One of the major new features is the ability to send images and the ability to more easily make group conversations. In addition, the call functionality is said to have received significant upgrades, increasing the quality of audio and lowering latency.
The new chat user interface can also be accessed via the web by visiting a special Steam chat page and logging in.
The new user interface is said to be the first part of a larger Steam redesign. This redesign will be making use of the same frameworks that were used to build the new Steam chat.
