The XP progression system in the arena racing soccer game Rocket League will be getting major changes this summer, development studio Psyonix announced.

According to a recent announcement, the changes will affect the way XP is earned and how players level up. In the current system progression tops out at level 75 when players earn the "Rocketeer" title.

However, in the new system the level cap will be removed and the amount of XP required between each level will flatten out, making it easier to level up.

Players who have already earned XP will see theirs converted to the new system automatically once its live this summer. Exact details on the conversion process have yet to be revealed, but the studio did note that players won't lose existing titles.

Rewards

The rewards that players get when leveling up will also change. The current random drop system will be replaced with a new system that awards a random item of "Uncommon" quality.

In addition, the random drop after each match will be different. With the new system, players will unlock all "Common" items for a particular slot as soon as they reach a certain number of matches played. For example, players will unlock every "Common" topper after 15 matches played.

XP bonuses

The new system will also introduce various XP bonuses that help players level up faster. These bonuses will be linked to various actions, such as completing a match without quitting, staying in the same lobby multiple matches, joining in-progress matches, and winning a certain number of matches per week.

The Rocket League XP progression system changes are expected to go live this summer.
