Indie development studio New World Interactive has released the first content update for Insurgency: Sandstorm. The game released in December.
The new update introduces a new arcade playlist that is said to be less serious than the other modes that are available. These modes are available for a limited time through the Play menu, but can also be run by community servers.
The arcade playlist will feature special game modes with new rules, classes, enemies and other game tweaks. The first mode introduced is Team Deathmatch.
The update also introduces five new weapons to the game: MP5A2 for Insurgents, MP5A5 for Security, MG3 for Insurgents, M240 Bravo for Security, and the PF940 for Security. The M84 flash bang effect has also been improved and are more effective.
The new weapons can be tested on the game's new test range map as this new functionality has no limits from the supply points system.
Last but not least, the update is also said to contain many gameplay and performance improvements, including improved user interfaces, community server vote kicking, and reduced memory usage across all maps.
The Insurgency: Sandstorm update is now available free of charge and totals at roughly 4.6 GB.
