Development studio CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it will be bringing multiplayer to its upcoming action RPG game Cyberpunk 2077. The game releases in 2020.
According to a recent announcement, the studio has been researching the potential multiplayer experiences it could add to Cyberpunk 2077 and has now confirmed that it will be working towards that goal.
The studio notes that, while it sees the opportunity to add multiplayer experiences, it will first focus on the singleplayer campaign to meet the April 2020 release date. The studio is currently hiring network programmers for this content.
The studio also confirmed that it will be releasing free downloadable content packs after the game releases in April 2020. It is likely that multiplayer will release as part of that roadmap.
The game is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future: Night City.
Players play as V, a hired gun on the rise, who just got their first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.
Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
