EA Games CEO Andrew Wilson has confirmed that the company is already working on the next Battlefield game. The latest title, Battlefield 1, released in October 2016.

Wilson confirmed that the company is already working on the next Battlefield game in its recent fiscal quarter investor call. The game is scheduled to launch in 2018.

The news is surprising because Battlefield developer EA Dice is still said to be working on content for Battlefield 1, including four downloadable content packs of which some have already been released.

How the studio is able to deliver so many products without sacrificing quality is unknown, however it is likely that a small team has been assigned to creating content for Battlefield 1 while a larger second team is finishing Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and is starting work on the next Battlefield game.

Despite following up Battlefield 1 so soon after the game's launch half a year ago, Wilson assured investors that the company will continue to deliver content to fans, which now includes the next Battlefield game.
