Development studio Ys Net has released new screenshots of Shenmue 3. The screenshot show the progress since the last trailer that was released in August 2017.

Shenmue 3 is said to be the true sequel to the classic open-world action role-playing games Shenmue and Shenmue 2. The game is built upon Unreal Engine 4 to power its visuals.

Although not much is known about the game's story campaign, the game is expected to feature familiar elements from its predecessors as well as new fighting mechanics to achieve "a new level of interactive storytelling".

The game's Kickstarter campaign raised over $6 million US with over 69,000 backers in July of 2015 and has been in development ever since. The game is currently being developed by Ys Net, an independent development studio founded by franchise creator Yu Suzuki.

Shenmue 3 is expected to launch late 2018 for PC and PlayStation 4.
