25 million players have tried out the new battle royale game Apex Legends in the first week of it being available. The game has also seen a peak of 2 million concurrent player milestone sometime last week.

The new figure is not surprising considering the game was able to attract 10 million players in the first 72 hours of its release. With 10 million players in the first three days, Apex Legends is growing faster than Fortnite at the time of its release.

The 25 million players milestone is significant, but in no way reflects the popularity of the game. A noteworthy percentage of players will download the game just to see what it is like and uninstall it again within a couple of days.

The concurrent number of players has peaked at roughly 2 million players in the first week. It is too early to tell whether the game will continue to attract players to keep that figure.

In the game up to 60 players battle against each other in large open world maps. It is said to feature "deep tactical squad play" and "bold new innovations" that level up the battle royale experience. The only game type currently available is the trio type where players the 60 players are split into 20 different squads.

The game is set in the Titanfall universe and takes place after the events of Titanfall 2. It is free to play and contains microtransactions in the form of weapon and character skins.

Apex Legends released on February 4, 2019, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
