Turtle Rock Studios has released an unfinished campaign for the original Left 4 Dead game. The campaign was supposed to connect the two campaigns Dead Air and Blood Harvest together.
The studio has released the unfinished campaign for the PC version of the game free of charge. The campaign lacks several options and includes several zombie spawn bugs but is still playable.
The unfinished campaign is called Dam It and is available for download in a 300 MB VPK package. Turtle Rock Studios was responsible for the development of the original Left 4 Dead game before it was acquired by Valve in 2008. The studio was renamed to Valve South but got split off again a year later.
The development team was later taken over by Take-Two Interactive to have it focus on the development of the shooter game Evolve. While that game released in 2015, the studio eventually had to pull the plug last October after the game saw dwindling player activity.
The Dam it campaign features 3 chapters: Orchard, Campground and Dam. The campaign is also playable in Left 4 Dead 2 by placing the VPK package in the game's addons folder.
Left 4 Dead launched on November 17th 2008 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will be released 8 years ago next week.
