The game was announced last June when the game was revealed at E3 2016. Thus far not many details have been released except for the game's setting and its virtual reality capabilities.

Along with the release of the game Sony will also release a new PlayStation VR aim controller, which is specifically built for virtual reality shooter games. The game and the controller will also be available in a bundle that will be available on the same day.

Farpoint launches on May 16th 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
