Indie development studio Unknown Worlds has announced it is working on a standalone expansion for Subnautica titled Below Zero.
Set in an ice-bound region of planet 4546B, after the events of the original game, Below Zero is said to offer a new chapter in the Subnautica universe.

According to the studio's website, the new game will keeping the core gameplay mechanics, such as base building and open-ended exploration.
In addition, the studio is also exploring new ones, such as thermal management, and more voiced dialogue at the core of the plot.
An early version of Subnautica Below Zero will be released on Steam Early Access in the coming months.
