Development studio Compulsion Games has released its action adventure game We Happy Few. The game has been in its Early Access development phase since 2016.

The game revolves around a person in a dystopian retrofuturistic-fashioned world where everyone is controlled by a personality-altering pill called "Joy".

The protagonist, Arthur Hastings, works as a "redactor", a government censor similar to the Ministry of Truth, erasing unhappy stories from newspapers and records.

The primary objective of the game is to escape the town of Wellington Wells. The game does save progress on checkpoints, but if the player dies or is captured, the player must start a new game.

The layout of the town is not fixed but procedurally generated every time a new game is started. The town is divided into districts, each of which has its own look and customs.

We Happy Few is now available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
