Nintendo has revealed several new Fire Emblem franchise games for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, Android and iOS earlier today via its Nintendo Direct livestream service.
The first new game is titled Fire Emblem Warriors and will be released for the Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS. The game will not be playable on older versions of the handheld console.
The second title is the mobile smartphone game Fire Emblem Heroes and will be released for Android and iOS devices. The game will feature strategic turn-based combat with characters from previous Fire Emblem games. It will be available on Android devices first.
The last game is Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and will only be available for Nintendo 3DS. The game is based on the original Fire Emblem Gaiden title that was released for the SNES in 1992.
The most noteworthy of the three new titles is Fire Emblem Warriors because it is considered to be a major new game in the Fire Emblem franchise. The game was already announced during the Nintendo Switch press conference but gameplay footage was not shown at that time.
The new trailer for the game indicates that the new title will feature the same gameplay mechanics as previous titles in the franchise.
During the stream Nintendo also confirmed that it is working on a new unannounced Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Switch that is expected to be released in 2018 though did not release further details.
Fire Emblem Warriors is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2017 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS.
