A team of developers are aiming to bring back the classic Legend of Zelda title, though this time with a twist. They are recreating the title in a 3D engine with Oculus Rift support. The original title became a huge hit back in 1986. The gameplay was one of a kind and was totally new to the gaming industry as a whole.
The recreation that is conveniently dubbed "ZeldaVR" is currently in the beta testing phase. The game is a mixture of the original 8-bit sprites graphics and modern-day elements such as physics and particle effects.
So far only a part of the original game has been recreated, including the overworld. Developers of the zelda-clone hope that they can finish the project by March of this year. The final version will be available at no cost, just like the beta.
You can download "ZeldaVR" on the official website. For the best experience the developers suggest a copy of the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift. The majority of gamers will most likely not have the virtual reality headset at hand though, they can still use a standard screen.
